Challenge

Training was an essential part of Lohmiller & Company’s growth strategy, but they were weighed down with excessive websites, training platforms, and tracking spreadsheets to manage it all. How could they streamline their training at scale?

Solution

By implementing the BlueVolt LMS, Lohmiller consolidated its training programs into a single, user-friendly platform, enabling the company to centralize content, automate reporting, improve compliance visibility, and support career advancement.

The Story

Lohmiller & Company, a Colorado-based HVAC distributor with four locations, has been operating for over thirty years. Jody Neiman, Director of HR at Lohmiller & Company, leads her team in delivering effective training and development solutions for employees. According to Neiman, employees are encouraged to take 30 hours of training per year.

Saving Time Through Consolidation & Automation

Four years ago, employees were accessing their training through multiple websites, and managers had to manually track the course completions on spreadsheets. Lohmiller & Company needed a scalable training solution.

“We had to go to multiple sites for the training, and it was just hard to keep track of it,” Neiman said of their previous training. “It’s nice to be able to keep all of the training in one spot.”

On the managers’ side, Automated Reporting makes it easy to schedule and generate real-time reports—no more manual spreadsheets. Neiman estimates that BlueVolt’s reporting feature alone saves over 100+ hours of administrative time.

Another time-saver on the administrative end is the Training Tracks™ feature, which allows for courses to be grouped by topic and assigned to the appropriate learner groups—HR can track compliance training, and managers can assign their teams relevant courses.

Driving Career Development Through Training

Two hands with a clock signifying that BluveVolt saves over 100 admin hours a year.

Training Tracks also make it easy for employees to take initiative and find the courses they need. For example, sales team members can take the required sales Training Tracks and complete a test to level up, which comes with a salary increase. Currently, 100% of the team is taking advantage of this opportunity.

“Everything is set up on a Training Track, so it makes it really easy to get into,” Neiman said. “They know exactly what they have to get done and it just makes it easier. So they’re in control of, basically, their income.”

The company also plans to use training data to inform promotions, such as advancing inside estimators to outside sales roles.

“The hard part in the HVAC world is it’s a very, very, very small world. If you are bad at what you do, everybody knows it,” Neiman said.

“We want to make sure before they actually go out and start talking to customers, they have the right information in their hands to be able to speak intelligently toward what they’re doing.”

Neiman is also currently developing training programs for new managers and plans to expand offerings to support leadership development at every level. This initiative aligns with Lohmiller & Company’s commitment for continuous improvement and internal growth.

“We’ve got a great team of managers—but we can always be better,” Neiman added.

Conclusion

As Lohmiller & Company continues to grow, BlueVolt remains a key partner in scaling learning and development across the organization. The platform supports the company’s culture of efficient, accessible training, and ensures that every team member, from new hires to seasoned managers, has the tools to succeed.
